Tara Agace, after attending the London Academy of Performing Arts, she worked as an actress, doing a little theatre and a couple of shorts, with the possibility of an independent film — but nothing to get excited about. On the side, for fun, she made jewellery — mostly stones strung on wisps of wire.
A film offer made leaving London for Hollywood easy. One night, out in LA, a stylist saw her wearing one of her pieces and it ended up in Vogue. Another friend gave a necklace to Madonna. Cher admired it, as did Shirley Manson, and the celebrity network kicked in. Calls started coming from the "special gifts" people at Miramax and William Morris Agency for her bespoke hand-poured gold and spun wire jewellery.
Now she sells exclusive pieces for £300+, and acting is a hobby. "It was a relief to let go of the constant rejection, and the queues of long-legged beauties at every audition," she says.
